There are some questions we need answers to, and some questions that should never be answered...Never Knowing by Chevy Stevens looks at what happens when the two categories overlap. Sara Gallagher has always known she was adopted, and as an adult finally takes the step to find out the identity of her birth parents, putting herself and her entire family in danger.

I devoured Never Knowing on the train last week, frantically flipping pages as I waited in line, climbed the stairs, took my seat, and grabbed a snack, completely unable to put it down. Sara is a wonderfully complex character I could relate to immediately. Her curiosity and compassion are admirable, but deadly. The Vancouver Island setting really spoke to the nature lover in me (is it weird that a story about a serial killer called the Campsite Killer made me want to go camping more than ever?) and Sara felt wonderfully grounded and realistic in both the setting and her relationships with her family.

If you love a good, fast-paced thriller with real character development, I highly recommend Never Knowing, as well as Stevens' first standalone novel, Still Missing.
