Quite an unusual book, covering the lives of a family through about 5 generations, so moving fairly rapidly, with each chapter seeing the story from the point of veiw of one of the members of the family. Most of them guilt-ridden Catholics! I finished this while on a visit to the village of Wickwar in Gloucestershire, to attend a wedding, and left it with the daughter of the bridegroom, as she seems a keen reader and said she would like it.
