I had hoped to enjoy this book more than I actually did. The writer is aiming for satire, and there are some witty observations and good insights into characters. She doesn't quite have the gift for writing biting satire that, say, Julian Fellowes does. The book is set in Maine over a weekend, and a wedding is scheduled to take place. The book mainly focuses on three characters: (1) Winn, the father of the bride, who takes great pride in being a WASP; (2) Livia, the younger daughter who is not getting married; and (3) Dominique, a friend of the bride who has taken a slightly different route after boarding school than the bride did. It's a good book for summer and a quick read.
