Poverty is a way of life. Poverty colors family relationships and life's expectations and has it's own coping skills for survival. What one values in poverty is different than what one values in middle class or wealthy class. It is an entirely different mind thought and way of life.

Throwing money at the poor will not end poverty. Life skills that will advance their economic statues and an entirely different view of life is the answer. Tall order. The book is written for teachers in order to understand children in poverty and to offer skills and supportive relationships in the classroom.

I found this information fascinating.
