** spoiler alert ** Laymon's books are very hit or miss for me. Some, like The Travelling Vampire Show, and Night in the Lonesome October are outstanding, while others like Alarums, and Darkness, Tell Us are juvenile and unengaging. Funland falls somewhere in between. The novel was longer than it needed to be. Some of the dialogue was very bad, and I found it amazing how quickly the characters fell in love, acting like they've been together for years instead of a day or two. Towards the end, when the trollers are lured into the funhouse, is when the action really picks up. This part was great! Laymon throws in a few surprises to keep the reader off-balance. Too bad the first 350 pages couldn't have been as good as the last 150.
