This story gave me some insight into an area of history and the world about which I know less than I should. It made it easy to connect to the protagonist, as she was right in my age range, and her varied experienced offered a few different perspectives on the Iranian revolution and Islamic fundamentalists. I have to say, I especially appreciated her feminist beliefs and exclamations near the end of the book.
