** spoiler alert ** Lots of intrigue and multiple characters/plots with interesting possibilities of genetically engineering coffee and tobacco to enhance addiction (already documented with the latter) and the unintended side effects on humans. With the pervasiveness of GMO corn and all the things containing it--perhaps a little too close for comfort. Again, this is a bland title for a medical/political thriller. The author said his inspiration was a real character who should inspire us all, Frances Kelsey who kept Thalidomide off the pharmacy shelves in the US.
