interesting but uneven. Should have been called Von Neumann's Cathedral, IMO, since he is - not undeservedly - the primary character in the book.

The story of early computing is fascinating in itself, but always serves for me as a touchstone to remind me of how awesome and incredible computing devices are... all while they become ever more invisible and taken utterly for granted.
