If Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was on a sugar high, the sequel was high on crack cocaine. Without a real plot to be spoken of, our favorite characters end up in space, having a lot of non-sensical adventures and trying out a lot of complicated rhymes.
This is a classic example of authors trying to squeeze a sequel out of a story that is FINISHED. (i.e. Ender's Game)
You'll notice I still gave The Glass Elevator three stars. That's because Dahl is still a genius and compared to some of the other kids books out there this one is positively illuminating.

Addendum: Read this to my kids. Still just as incoherent and pointless as the first time. But I'm nothing if not loyal to Roald. Even the best of us have regrets.
