I read this one in one sitting, after waiting for it for months. Weiner offers comfort books, much like the comfort food so many of her characters (and I) enjoy. You sort of know what's coming: deep, full characters in some sort of life struggle. They are dealing with an 'imperfection' (sometimes weight, in this case, scarring on her face), but somehow manage to overcome and find love. There is always a bit of witty dialog, some pop culture references and generally a sex scene or two. None of it seems formulaic, though. Her books are all definitely different. I feel like I immediately get to know the people in them. This one was a bit less tragic than her last one. It was an easy, enjoyable read.
