This lovely biography describes Jim Henson's life and how he came up with his creative muppet ideas. One of the things that I learned is that muppet is a portmanteau of puppet and marionette. It's a straightforward biography that is organized chronologically; perfect for teaching and small group instruction with elementary students.

Recommended for students in grades 1 - 3, though it's a bit of a long read aloud. I did not care for the cover of the book -- the bright pink color and Jim Henson's 70's style shirt make this wonderful book look a bit dated.
