Andre Anderson has it all going for him...a good student, a gifted writer, a talented basketball player, a gorgeous girlfriend, loyal friends, and a close-knit family. He lands a job at Affairs Magazine as an intern during high school. His writing has gotten notice and the editor asks him to write a tough piece on racism. He does and the article wins acclaim.

But, not everyone is happy with his success. Just as he is leaving the job, he is jumped and severely beaten. Now, his family and friends are left to pick up the pieces and help Andre find his way back to life. In time, Andre realizes that those who beat him will not win...and in order for that to happen, he must carry on. And so, he does.
