After reading this book I wonder if I really do like Alice Hoffman the way I thought I did after reading "Ice Queen" last year. I'll get to that in a second.

"Here on Earth" spoke a lot to me about love. Should we judge relationships based on what we see from the outside? Does the past excuse present actions or just explain them? Should someone have to accept that? What's the price of love? Is it worth being a selfish asshole and abandoning your daughter?

It seems like she uses the same characters over and over again. The women who makes poor decisions, the abuser, the smart professor, insects, interactive weather/environments, the bad boy, the enlightened female with male problems and the oddball with flaws because of his past. I have not decided if this is something I like or not since I do still enjoy her writing.

Overall I really enjoyed it. Both of the main characters pissed me off but that doesn't make it a terrible book. This just didn't wow me like her others once did.
