I'm not sure I would recommend this book to anyone who isn't in their mid-20s and trying to figure out their life, but I enjoyed it.

The book seemed almost too underwhelming. Why read a book with so little gravity? But I loved the unpretentiousness of it, and the discrepancy between the narrator's normal report of events, and his thoughtfulness that would show itself intermittently. It seemed like an honest book that dealt with issues about a family's growth in an intersting way, and though at first I thought when a 'real' event occurred, that it cheapened the book, in the end I think all the lack of gravity from the first half paid off, because you got to see how someone so detached deals with some of the heaviest things life can throw at you.
