Their castle's in ruins and it is up to young 17-year-old Althea Crawley to marry rich and save the castle for her 4 year-old brother, Alexander. Althea's beauty is known far and wide and it should be easy for her to capture a wealthy man's heart...right? Well, she is also spunky, strong-willed, and speaks her mind. What man is up to that task?

Along comes handsome, young, rich Lord Boring. He is smitten, and Althea is sure he will propose...and just in time since the castle is literally falling apart! Yet, he surprises the whole town when he proposes to Althea's step-sister, sneaky Charity Winthrop. What?? Making matters worse is that Lord Boring's cousin, Mr. Fredericks is crass, brass, and a tag-a-long. Sure, he's a wizard with financial plans and numbers, but he only manages Lord Boring's money.

When things seem to be just about as desperate as they can be, the truth comes out and Althea gets a marriage proposal that is out of the blue. Who really is the wealthy man in the picture? And, how fortunate that his biting wit is a match for Miss Crawley...a match perfect for romance, equality, and a castle in desperate need of repairs.

Keeping the Castle is a mini-Pride and Prejudice for young readers.
