As always, Ms. Tepper tells a wonderfully engaging story with strong characters and a really twisty plot. The themes of ecological responsibility, female worth, and the ethics of healthcare are thickly entwined throughout which is true of most of her books. This was certainly not my favorite Tepper book, but I was very impressed with the incredibly complex story arc. I would recommend it, but I would more highly recommend The Gate to Women's Country and The Family Tree for more entertainment and less work!
