Epictetus' Handbook was a fantastic read! I loved being able to delve into the Stoic philosophy and explore all of its quirks and contradictions. It's really a thought-provoking piece; the reader can't help but try and imagine what it would be like to live life following the Stoic doctrine. Much of Epictetus' ideas were quite shocking in terms of their harshness and rigidity, however it seems more likely that The Handbook was really just a series of guidelines to follow rather than a set of strict rules. The language is fairly colloquial, such that it is an easy and quick read for most readers. I'd recommend it to people who want to learn about Stoicism and read a truly thought-provoking piece of writing.
