Man, I loved this book - it was the perfect summer read right before my trip to Alaska. It's an ode to the wilderness and nature - with a definite conservation agenda that kind of hits you over the head at times, but I appreciated the detail about insects and trees and goats and coyotes. It was steamy - both in terms of the humid Southern, summer nights and the sexy scenes with the forest ranger and her mountain top boyfriend. I liked the way it redefined people's families - how the one woman slowly builds a relationship with her niece and nephew and will eventually take them into her home. I just really came to care about these characters and felt sad when the book was over and I don't get to see the next chapter in their lives.
