This audiobook, read by the author, became the epic soundtrack for my summer. Powerful, gripping, gritty and violent, Andre Dubus III shares his story of growing up in Haverhill, MA. His relationship with his father is at the core of the story, a father who left the family, had multiple marriages, was a writer and college professor, a father he hardly knew as a child, but reconciled with as an adult. Tough to listen to at times; his honesty is brutal, but there are lessons here. I plan to read more by this author.
