Although a little slow to get off the ground, this book does take finally take off and provide many page-turning scenes. However, I was frustrated by the lack of communication between the new bride (the American heiress) and her new husband, the duke. It seemed that the author kept so much of the story back (or maybe in her mind) that the reader is left frustrated by the supposed obviousness of the situation that isn't really obvious at all. When the pieces of the puzzle are all revealed, they don't really fit together all that well.

It was a fun read, though. I believe that even those who haven't watched Downton Abbey will enjoy being a fly on the wall among the aristocracy of 1890's England.
