it was amazing
Read from August 05 to 12, 2012

I hate it when I unknowingly read book one of an uncompleted series. Let this be your warning that no matter how good I tell you this book is, you may want to wait until the release date of the sequel is a little closer.

Unlike many dystopian novels these days, this one, blessedly, came without the typically angsty teenagers. In fact, for most of the book, I couldn't really see that there was anything overly oppressive about the book's society. They have quirky rules and customs (the prohibition against making new spoons and the resulting shortage thereof was amusing) but so do many societies. The light, almost whimsical tone the story was told in made it very enjoyable to read. The story itself was engaging, with excellent characters. I'll gladly read the next book when it comes out.
