There's so much to love about the memoir of this amazing chef. Even if you're not a foodie, the storytelling of his unique life is enough to keep you turning the pages. From his beginnings as an Ethiopian orphan, through his childhood in Sweden and travels throughout Europe working his way up the restaurant ranks, he weaves a wonderful tale of adventure, tragedies, successes, and failures. It's no surprise that he landed in New York City, with its mosaic cultures and competitive restaurants. The book also speaks of his dismay about the lack of blacks among the top chef levels, and how he's working to remedy this. "A delicious read" wrote Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Indeed!!
