really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, young-adult

A betrayal, an ancient curse, a modern teenage girl, and a tiger. All individually interesting (except, maybe the betrayal; they all get so tedious), but woven together, they make for a fantastic story of adventure and romance.

Ren is this charmingly old fashioned guy who, of course, has the body of a God. It’s easy to see how it’s an inevitability that Kelsey reciprocates these feelings. Kelsey is an easy heroine to back. She doesn’t immediately take things at face value, but she’s not close minded either. The only frustrating aspect of her personality is her absolute refusal to consider herself “worthy” for Ren. Running away from potential heart break, Kelsey’s the sort of heroine who’d rather break both their hearts than give their love a shot. But, I guess, what fun (and agonizing torture) can be had if Houck let them get together in the first book? None.

Overall Tiger’s Curse was an exciting read, even in spite of any frustration Kelsey causes. If you’re looking for a new series to sink your teeth into, this is the start to an amazing paranormal romance epic.
