** spoiler alert ** Alex Flinn has tied together a couple fairytales into the main story to make it so unique. The main story was about a girl named Emma who has an "evil" step sister, just like Cinderella. Not everything goes her way but in the end she is very happy. In between parts, Alex has incorporated some short tales that explain why Kendra (the witch), doesn't help Emma right off the bat. First was The Princess and the Pea incident, then there was a version of The Little Mermaid which both included historical facts. For The Princess and the Pea , she used a real price and princess. In The Little Mermaid she added that the boat the boy was over-bored from was the Titanic. Before all of this began, Alex had explained how Kendra had become a witch and had told us all about her family and the plague. In Kendra's story, Alex had made it that Kendra had learnt all of her witch craft from a witch that baked children into ginger bread, (the story of Hansel and Gretel). The main story and the short tales are pretty romantic, except for kendra's story at the beginning. This is over all one of the greatest books.
