really liked it

"Sea Hearts" examines the selkie myth from both sides.
Thoughts:
I appreciated the internal logic that the boys born of seal-fathers and the girls of sea-mothers return to the sea.
I was disappointed that the selkie wives were so passive about their fate, until Daniel acknowledges the importance of seal language to the mams. His selkie mam finally speaks: the selkies would be happiest if never taken to wife.
Misskaella seeks not to create a community in her own image, but to inflict the incurable pain of desire.
