Just finished this book and I actually really liked it, despite a sense of familiarity with the overall concept and plot. It reminded me of Chronicle meets Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series, however this book was grittier and didn't shy away from the violence (which I have to admit, I liked!).

The pacing was solid, although I did find myself flipping the pages faster after the first 100 pages or so. There was also plenty of high stakes and external and internal conflict that are set up to carry into the next in the series -- which I'll definitely be reading!

I have to admit the ending still has me thinking...I need to let it sit with me for a few more days to figure out where I really stand with it, but I get why the author ended it the way she did. I just selfishly wish it was different! ;)
