Armistead Maupin is an easy writer. He tells a story, and you instantly relate to everyone (which is strange, because everyone has an alternate lifestyle). He brings you into a bizarre world that seems ever so 'normal'.

I was trying to remember the other day when I had started to read the 'Tales of the City' novels, and I was probably 20 or 21 living in Denver, Colorado. Not sure who guided me to these books, or if I stumbled onto them by myself, but however I got there, I'm glad I did.

Great summer read. Not too heavy...and full of San Francisco. :)
If you've never read any of his other books, start at the BEGINNING. You'll be glad you did.
