This was an awesome little novella that set up the Jessica McClain series. I'm excited to read the first book when it is realeased in September.

Jessica is an oddity - a non-werewolf female daughter to the Pack Alpha. I know, the 'only female' plot is a bit overused these days, but it works here. I think the reason why is because all of the wolves HATE Jessica. They believe in a prophecy that denounces Jessica as evil, and that she would lead to the end of the race.

This story was filled with action from start to finish. At first there were a few small sentence structure issues that I didn't love, but I didn't notice this at all later in the story, so all was well. I found Jessica likable, and I liked that she thought through her options before she took action. Even when it seemed like she was being reckless, she explained to the reader why she needed to do something.

I look forward to reading the first full novel in September!
