Review: This is my first Judy Picoult book, So her YA is my first try. To be fair I’m not and never was a big fairytales fan so I presume this might be a reason why I didn’t really got in the book. This story has all the ingredients of a fairytales: princes, love, friends, lonely girls and of course trying your ever after.

I have to admit though kudos for the originality of the book. Delilah is a loner and loves an illustrated book that is talking about a prince named Oliver and the book will start to talk back to her.

You have two POV Delilah and Oliver….You get to read the actual fairytale mixed in the book. I know some of my girlfriends that would love that aspect as they are fairytales fans….this was extremely interesting and yet I think this is what didn’t do it for me.

The characters have dimension and you really live the book with Delilah, they are both imperfect making them much more real. The story was also very well written and flow smoothly. However the storyline is fairly simplistic so I think this will be more enjoyable by younger teens.

In conclusion: Even if this book was extremely original, I never read anything like that; it was a bit too fluffy for me and even if it was a nice distraction to read it didn’t really engross me. However, I would completely advise that book to anyone who are fairy-tales fans and are looking for ‘happily-ever-afters’. They will probably ADORE Between the Lines.

Stars: 2.5/5

Mrs. Lapacka Please read her other books. She is a fabulous writer. I'm about 60 pages into this one and I can tell you already, this is not typical Jodi. I'll finish it, because I love her and because I teach middle school, and i want to know whether or not to give it to my students, but so far I'm disappointed to say the least.

Colleen I agree 100%! Please read her other books! I have been a fan of hers since book 1! Her books are pretty easy reads, but love the storylines and love the way that she captures our attention! I am halfway through this book, started about an hour ago, and while it is an extremely easy read, it has not captivated me in the way Jodi's books usually do! Having said that, I love the connection between the characters and the readers! I am hoping to finish this book within the next hour, so I can be done with it!
