really liked it
bookshelves: children-and-young-adult
Read from June 29 to July 01, 2012

The coolest series of books ever written for children aged 8-10. I absolutely love how cheerfully morbid they are, like crossing Ronald Dahl with Stephen King (although, I can see how that might be a bit off-putting for some parents). Plus, the humor is way more sophisticated than what you generally expect from kids' books, and THE WIDE WINDOW brings out the comedy in everything from English grammar to unbridled paranoia to Ghengis Kahn. By this point in the series, yes, the story line has gotten a bit repetitive, but it's still fun, nonetheless.
