This was my very first graphic novel of any kind. I am a fantasy/distopian/historical fiction/classics reader. I chose Grandeville for my first adventure through a new genre and read it in one sitting thoroughly intrigued and entertained. The only reason I did not give four stars is because I wasn't exactly running to the store to see if there was a sequel. Also, while I do like LeBrock a lot, I was a little confused about how though he is trying to stop the bad guys and clearly thinks they are evil, he certainly kills a lot of people without blinking an eye. The heroes I'm used to are definitely not afraid to kill when necessary but they don't make jokes about it or kill when someones pleading for mercy. Maybe I'm too much of a softy, again, this is my first of this genre.

But I liked the drawings, and the animals being superior to humans, and all in all I think it was a good introduction for me, personally, as it incorporated history, fantasy, romance and classic undertones.
