Although there are parts of this book that are a bit clunky, it's quite well written. This book is the author's first novel; she previously wrote short stories, and there are parts of the novel which read more like short stories written about the same characters.

The characters are well-written. I found myself arguing in my head with the author about the choices her characters were making, and ultimately I think that's one of the strengths of this book; it forces us to confront hard choices and wonder how we (or others) might (or should)react.

Sara totally agree with you--i remember enjoying the experience of reading this book just as much as the story. there were so many great questions asked that prompted, at least for me, a lot of personal reflection.
