Love this series about a British nurse during WWI. Very understated and quiet. Much like the Maisie Dobbs books by Jacqueline Winspear, though I do like that series a bit better.

I'm enjoying these books about WWI, and I'm glad to see more being published.

This series describes the war scene and the heroic medical efforts at a time when there were no antibiotics and no foreknowledge of the horrors of trench warfare, mustard gas and post-traumatic stress syndrome. All of these play into the plots of the series, but woven into the scenes is a puzzling murder to solve.

Each book is a satisfying read.
