liked it

This is a reprint of an older book by Diane Chamberlain and it holds up pretty well. You can certainly see her talent and the development of her strong voice. The story content was sometimes difficult, but it was handled sensitively. I really liked the character of Kate (the heroine's mother, who has her own storyline) but wasn't so sympathetic towards Eden, the heroine in the contemporary plot-line. One of the things I really like about Chamberlain is the way I think I've got things figured out and then she completely blind-sides me. That didn't happen in this book. I had it pretty well figured out before the midpoint. Still a good read.
