Francine Rivers never disappoints. Good read! This story depicts, to me, something that can happen when we fall into beliefs for the sake of tradition and/or, as in this case, fear. And, as often happens, a child breaks the monotonous stranglehold that one man's fear holds over a small mountain community, this child and the power of Jesus Christ preached to her by one man with a mission to that community. It's sad what we let ourselves believe and how we live because of fear and selfishness. The time we waste, the lives we waste before we realize that freedom from our many types of bondage are only a prayer away.
