This book is one of the reasons why I chose Anthrology as a major. Although it was not a quick read, I thought it was a unique view of multicultural healthcare. The book follows a Hmong-American child with grand mal seizures and discusses the healthcare decisions that were made for her and how her non-English speaking family responded to those choices. Every other chapter skips to an ethnography of Hmong life in Laos which gives the reader insight into how Western-medical decisions impact the family members' current lives.
