A beach read…set on the beach. It was like slipping away to my own “Time in a Bottle”, with the crash of waves ripping across the sands and the squall of birds riding the air.

There is much to be said for the “flavor” of a book. This novel definitely carries that flavor and tone of finding oneself. It’s a journey of change and discovery for many of the characters giving it more than a shallow one-dimensional feel.

Over all, I wasn’t as taken with this novel as I expected, which surprised me. It has a premise I honestly thought I’d love. But I thought too many plot points were mentioned at multiply unnecessary times that didn’t further the story in that moment.

I admit to being confused on all the male attention afforded Macy. I would have liked a richer backstory into Macy’s obsession to find the “artist” from her guestbook; we knew pieces, but not depth. That element of the story was very straight forward, where as I’m the reader who likes to dip and turn and soar through the past to how it affects today.

I will say the ending was incredibly sweet. It might not have been what I’d have picked out for our heroine, but it was the right ending for her. There were several profound moments for Macy in the last chapters, and for me as well and I loved that.

Overall, I wasn’t as pleased as I expected, but as you are used to at this point, dear reader, this remains only my opinion…

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers through Amazon Vine for my copy to review.
