This book won the National Book Club Award, which makes me feel like I should have enjoyed it more than I did. I think there’s only so much you can say about the Dust Bowl of the mid 1930s before it becomes redundant. The book is well researched and well written. Readers interested in learning more about the history of this event and the toll it took on the inhabitants of the area will probably enjoy reading it. For me the description of the Dust Bowl was pretty much what I expected and not much more. I had a difficult time getting through it actually.
