Read from June 28 to 29, 2012

The Shadow of the Wind is my favorite novel ever, and so when I learned there would be a companion novel, I could have cried. And then when I found out that Daniel and Bea would appear in another book? I think my Grinchy heart grew five sizes. Granted, this novel is more about Fermin but that's okay---I love Fermin!

The thing that I love most about Carlos Ruiz Zafon and this series is that he's written a love letter to books and to the people that read them. Pretty much everything that's good about humanity (and yes, what's bad about it, too) can be found in these pages. I know that's a bold statement, but it's true.

They're about love and loyalty, hatred and despair, frienship and courage...but most of all, they're about books and how they can save us.

I just finished The Prisoner of Heaven, but I am already looking forward to re-reading it. And I would love someday to accidentally stumble into the Cemetery of Forgotten Books.

Highly recommended.

Lisy V Hi, have you read Angel's Game? It's the prequel to Shadow of the Wind and it is also excellent, a bit darker.

Kelly Hager I have. I liked that a lot, too. All three of them are amazing.
