This is the second novel in the “Country Music” series. This one is about big brother, Heath, whose bride, Chance, ran away to cooking school the night of their wedding. A year later he decides to divorce her. That day he receives a call to come down to the jail and pick her up. Uh-oh. Chance is back in town. *grin*

Chance has lots of secrets, and it was fun to see Uber-Alpha Heath loosen up a little with her when she decides to give their marriage another shot. I actually enjoyed this one more than the first novel in the series.

However the end left me kinda meh. It’s an HEA, and that’s good. But I think North was aiming for some kind of big emotional healing/growth revelation. I didn’t feel it. North has a habit of making big jumps in the timeline/plot. Maybe the power of the ending for me got lost in one of those black holes. Who knows?

At any rate, this is a very enjoyable series, and I love the characters. Can’t wait for Bo...more

946249 Yeah, those holes take away something from the book overall. But it was still a fun book. I'm glad that I got to read both and I will definitely read the 3rd one whenever it finally comes out!

968869 Chance for the female? Chance is such a guy name.

130991 Isis, I agree. It was a fun book. If she ever goes with a big NYC print publisher and gets a good editor, the black holes will disappear. Those editors are famous for saying, "Flesh this scene out more! You're expecting your readers to know more than they do!!" Seriously. I hear authors complain about it all the time. LOL

Teryl, you're right. Chance is a guy's name. How did I miss that? But in this instance it fits the heroine perfectly, so I never even thought about it. Plus this "world" takes place out West, and guy names for women are more common out there, I think, so that's probably why it slipped past me. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, though. I can't believe I missed that. Ha!

968869 It just struck me funny because I have a half brother named Chance and hadn't seen it used for a female yet.
