Hi my name is Jamie and I'm a Vlad Tepesh Addict. I have been looking forward to Once Burned for MANY months. I tore through the Cat and Bones series and LOVED Vlad in those books and I was was really excited to see that he was getting his own spin off series. On a side note, the guy on the cover....where do I find one of those?!


I really liked Leila in this role of our heroine. She's suffered from a freak accident and as a result she has some pretty funky powers. Then it get's out to the "creatures who go bump in the night" that she has these powers this is the point where the games begin. Turns out that she's wanted by the villian of the book to get a read on Vlad so he can be taken out. On top of all the crap that Leila has to put up with through the course of the book, she herself doesn't take crap off of anyone, Vlad included. There is some pretty interesting banter between these two that's for sure.


Then there is Vlad. The original Prince of the Night. Controller of fire, physically as well as emotionally scarred, lover extrodinare, overall bad ass. Ok, so after reading this book, I wish I was Leila or that Vlad was real and all mine. *off in my happy place* Ok, I'm back now. Vlad is your awesome sauce Alpha male who likes to rule everyone and everything around him. Then Leila comes along.....


There was so much going on in this book that I was instantly drawn in. The witty banter between Vlad and Leila was great. The romance built at a great pace which lead up to phenominal smex (see sexual meter above). There is drama and angst and lightning rods and a visit from Cat and Bones. The only thing I missed in this book was Vlad's smart ass banter whenever Bones is around :( Up until I started reading this book I had been in a super huge reading slump and once I cracked the spine on Once Burned it was over, at least for the time being. If you haven't picked up Once Burned yet, what are you waiting for!?
