Usually I don't like books that alternate between past and present in different chapters but in this case, it made Heloise's (the main character's) story better and gave her character more depth. I loved that her character was willing to do anything and everything for love of her child. I will definitely be looking for more books to read by author Laura Lippman. I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
