Old Maid's Puzzle is the second book in the Quilting Mystery series by Terri Thayer, set in modern-day San Jose CA. This series will appeal primarily to quilters, who also enjoy reading cozy mysteries.

Software engineer Dewey Pellicano inherited Quilter Paradiso quilt shop from her mother. She also inherited a mutinous employee, her sister-in-law Kym.

Dewey is counting on Quilter Paradiso's 20th anniversary sale and appearance on national television to bolster the shop's revenues enough to stay in business. The last thing she needs is a dead body in the alley outside the shop, and a police investigation.

Dewey and Buster continue their budding romance, and Dewey muddles her way to solving the murder.

This plot was frustrating! At any given moment, Dewey does anything and everything except take care of her highest priority. She repeatedly jeopardizes the future of her shop, playing nosy parker with elderly ladies and their affairs. She also imagines difficulties in her romance with Buster, where none exist.

Light entertainment, implausible yet likely to appeal to quilters.
