This was one of the best portrayals of Anne Neville that I have read. Little more than a pawn in her father's schemes, she could do nothing but follow his orders until the day that Richard rescued her. I really enjoyed the portrayal of Richard who becomes Richard III. He proclaims his innocence in the disappearance of the two princes in the Tower and even seems to grasp just how much people will despise him and blame him for the disappearance. Gregory has done it again and brought Anne to life in this new book. Definitely recommend!

I couldn't agree with you more. I thought that this perception of Richard was so refreshing!

Question...I just purchased this book I have never read anything but this author but we are watching the Tudors so I was interested in this book. I see it says #4 by the name...is this a series of books? Do I need to read the other 3 first or is it just a collection?
You don't have to read the other three first in my opinion. Each book basically follows one main historical figure. The first book is about Elizabeth Woodville, wife of Edward VI. The second is about Margaret Beaufort, the mother of Henry VII and grandmother of Henry VIII. The third is about Elizabeth Woodville's mother, Jacquetta. It really just depends on what you're interested in. All the books deal with the War of the Roses but from different perspectives and I think that's the biggest thing that links them together. I'd suggest reading the Kingmaker's Daughter and if you like it, read the other three in whichever order appeals to you. Hope this helps!
