This book is the second book in the trilogy following on from the brilliant The Taker. The Taker was excellent and this book was just as brilliant. You found out more about the characters from the first book. Alma Katsu has written each character so well and you find yourself willing them, loving them or loathing them. The baddie the character called Adair from the first book you hate him for the despicable things that he does or has done but also found myself drawn to him too. In this book without going into detail I found myself feeling sorry (for want of a better word) and also falling for him a bit more. Lanny (Lanore) is still a great character and love seeing things through her eyes and what she has been through in her extremely long life. Just finding out more about her. The story is still very sexy and dark and can't wait for the final instalment The Descent which is out sometime next year. This book along with The Taker is a must read. Brilliant writing!
