I liked this book better than the 6th one as there was more character development and action.

We Darren develop a lot more in this one, he becomes a teenager after he goes through a process called the purge, which will allow him to become a fully blooded vampire.

I like that Darren and Larten went back to the Crique du Freak in this because that's how this whole adventure started off and we got to see the characters that haven't been mentioned for a while in the other books.

I also like the way that the author has created these vampire not typical to the very sexy, flawless kind. At the beginning of the book, Darren was bald and had a lot of scarring. I'm not saying he was ugly but he definitely was the flawless, sexy vampire that's overused nowadays. It just makes the author's vampire unique.

The ending was good because it set up the plot for the next nicely and I can't wait to get into it.
