Excruciating and brilliant. By the time it ended, I felt like I myself had lived through the Plague. (Finishing it right before bed was probably not the best move, given the dreams it inspired.) Highly, highly recommended.

Shawn Thrasher Connie Willis is so incredibly brilliant. Move to To Say Nothing Of the Dog next - equally great, in a totally different way!

Susan That book falls in the category of a work of brilliance I'd be reluctant to read again. I agree about To Say Nothing of the Dog. That one led us to go back and read the inspirational Three Men in a Boat, which is also amazingly funny.
