The reviews were so glowing for this, when I saw it, I knew it was just the thing for me...I was not disappointed, this is an exceptional narration of a true story that happened at the end of World War II in New Guinea. It's incredible. The author, Mitchell Zuckoff, did an amazing job of recreating the story, including the most astute details and telling a story with so many different elements--history, culture, human interaction and emotion. One reviewer called it "a rivetting work of narrative history and a thrilling journey..." I totally agree. Thrilling is a good word for this work.
