My first thought after reading this one was that Emily Bronte should have married Thomas Hardy..they would have made quite a pair..although I'm sure he wouldn't have approved that some characters in this book get a happy ending. Bronte's characters are so well developed that they crept into my thoughts and into my dreams at night. I did feel for all of these characters. I found myself sympathising with all of them, though Heathcliff gradually made that harder for me to do with him. I also found feeling true anxiety for Miss Cathy and hopes that she wouldn't be completely ruined and that she could find happiness somewhere. I have to admire an author that can do that to me. I gave four stars because of the overall writing style, mood and the feelings it brought out of me. I really thought it was great, but I'm not so sure I'll be picking this one back up anytime soon!

Meg Sadie--What a wonderful review! You described my exact experience with this book, so I gotta give you some serious props. I LOVED it. Of course, I also love the movie Schindler's List... I just can't visit it that often or I'll go totally Sylvia Plath. And I completely agree with your matchmaking. Thomas and Emily Bronte-Hardy. I adore them both. Best wishes for an eternity of all the wedded misery they desire!
