really liked it

I REALLY enjoyed this book about context and how it influences our thoughts and behavior EXCEPT for a line in the gender chapter when he stated that to suggest a woman is nurturing implies they are inferior when it comes to bottom-line thinking, tough decisions, etc... I don't agree with that assessment. Aside from the expression of that unfortunate opinion, I completely loved the book. Sommers is clever and articulate and I enjoyed the Seinfeld shout-outs.

Sam Sommers Glad you enjoyed the book. And fair point-- I'm re-reading that passage and it could've been phrased much more artfully. The message I was trying to convey was that not that one can't be both nurturing and tough-minded, but rather that general lay conceptions of the two ideas are fairly exclusive of one another such that when people hear "nurturing" they infer that the target in question is lacking in tough-mindedness. That definitely could've been phrased more carefully, so I appreciate you pointing it out.
